It all started when…
we became interested in helping young people access amazing literature. We decided to partner with Mary’s Child Home for Teen Moms to build their library with diverse and relevant literature based on the interests of the girls living there.
We spoke to the girls about the books they liked reading, and also their favourite tv shows, movies, and general interests. They also shared with us their favourite kinds of books to read to their babies at night. This all fed into the suggested book list that we think will make their time in the children’s home more comfortable.
Not only are we donating books, we’re also collecting cash to upgrade their library into a more comfortable reading room, and we’re donating our time to helping them organise their bookshelves.
Along came COVID-19…
and our plans have slowed a bit. We haven’t been able to visit Mary’s Child Home since February but we’re still accepting donations of books and cash to buy books and improve the library.
