Hi I’m Jherane Patmore, founder of Rebel Women Lit

I believe that reading is political, an act of self-care, and a form of resistance building.

I created Rebel Women Lit as an alternate birthday party in 2017 because I wanted to get my friends to read Audre Lorde's ‘I Am Your Sister’ and talk about it.

Since then, Rebel Women Lit has grown into an international open book club where anyone who is interested can join, and it has steadily grown into something much bigger than I can imagine. It’s become an incredible online community of passionate bibliophiles who engage in a variety of literary projects, and events, and of course, meet up for our monthly book clubs.

I’m grateful to have the privilege to create and share this community and I’m looking forward to seeing how this space will continue to evolve.
